If you can, watch Thundarr The Barbarian or Ralph Bakshi’s Wizards. Either will give you the gist of what this is all about. Read Jack Vance’s Dying Earth stories and novels, (particularly Eyes of the Overworld and Cugel’s Saga). These tales perfectly capture a decadent far future earth built on top of the ruins of the old world — A world of powerful wizards and ancient technological marvels Finally, look at illustrations and art by Brom, Jean Giraud (a.k.a. Moebius), Nate Simpson, Tony DiTerlizzi, Doug Kovacs, and Micheal Whelan, because they are good.
